Steve Jobs' Advice for People Who Want to Be Rich - Steve Jobs advice for people who want to be rich. The late Steve Jobs was a renowned pioneer of the personal computer era and is considered to have been a visionary as well as a genius.

He is known worldwide as one of the founders of Apple, its chairman and CEO. So, in today’s post, we’ll be looking into advice Steve Jobs has for folks who want to be rich and successful. 

Now, let’s get into it.

1. Find your passion and go with it

Follow your passion and success will follow you. This is one piece of advice that you will always hear as you embark on your journey to success. For most people, success means being proud of the things they achieve and being part of something that matters.

If you decide to follow your passion, and you are good at it, there is a high probability that money and success will follow. This is because a lot of time and effort is invested, mastering and perfecting whatever it is you want to do.

Also, if enthusiasm and passion are present, people have the tendency of being more resilient when faced with obstacles.

And it’s for this reason that people who are passionate about what they do rather than the cash they get, tend to be people who have a more positive outlook and are able to overcome challenges more easily.

Jobs said that
“Your work is going to fill a large part of your life, and the only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking. Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.”
So simply, do what you love.

2. Create quality product

For all you entrepreneurs out there, only sell high-quality products. Steve Jobs and his team designed the original Macintosh computer in the early 80s with the aim of making it the best computer.

His number one priority was making products that were exemplary. Although many would argue otherwise, Apple products have continuously been able to be of high quality, and it’s for this reason that they remain at the top.  

They always have loyal customers who are  always more than ready to buy from them, simply because they supply quality products.

Create products that you can proudly recommend to your friends and family. Always make sure that your product is of high quality, and it’s something that people would love to use.  

Customers tend to trust individuals who are serious about what they do and are willing to take the time to achieve a deep understanding of their trade.

Therefore, take your time every day to learn about your customer’s needs and the challenges they face. It goes without saying that trust isn’t the only part of the equation. 

You must also have a product that customers want and need and the ability to show how you’re actually adding value and even solving their problems.

Because if you don’t earn the customer’s trust, they’ll probably buy from someone else whom they do trust-even if the offer isn’t as good.

Jobs had a theory of his own as to why several great companies decline over time, and his theory was that.

Yes, while they do make great products, the people in sales and marketing eventually take over the company because they are the ones who increase profits, and when they run the company, the guys in the production department don’t matter as much, and most of them simply lose morale.  

It happened at Apple when Scully came in, and when Ballmer took over at Microsoft. So remember, quality is more important than quantity. Don’t rush anything just to produce more of it. Quality is the key to success.

3. Start as early as possible 

When Jobs was 17 years old, he read a quote that would impact his life immensely.
“If you live each day as if it was your last, someday you’ll most certainly be right.”
We may not know how much time we have left, but we have the ability to decide what it is we shall do with it. You have to use every chance you get to make a great life for yourself.  

You see, most accomplished leaders and people optimise their results by finding the work that’s most meaningful to them and pursuing it passionately.

No matter who you are, you have a terminable amount of time on this earth. Thinking about your death as Jobs often did, and the limited amount of time you have left isn’t meant to be repulsive.

On the contrary, it empowers you to  use that time in the most meaningful way possible.
“Remembering that I’ll be dead soon is the most important tool I’ve ever encountered to help me make the big choices in life. Almost everything, all external expectations, all pride, all fear of embarrassment or failure, these things just fall away in the face of death, leaving only what is truly important.”
Jobs said these words to remind you that life is short so make the most of it.

4. Be creative

By the time Steve Jobs had died at the age of 56, he had accomplished almost everything a man of vision could dream of, and he had already left his mark on this earth by helping to make the work a global village.

But the irony is, even though he is known for revolutionizing the pc and the mobile phone, by his own admission, he wasn’t much of the creative genius most people believed he was, he saw himself as someone who knew how to take something that already existed and transformed it into something much better.

Jobs continued learning all through his life. He believed that creativity was about identifying how a product had been put together, and thinking of ways that the productcould be upgraded and improved to create something new.

He explained that the way he mastered the pc, mobile phones and later, movie animation  was by using the idea of connecting things.
“Creativity is just connecting things. When you ask creative people how they did something, they feel a little guilty because they didn’t really do it, they saw something. It seemed obvious to them after a while. That’s because they were able to connect experiences they’ve had and synthesize new things, and the reason they were able to do that was that they’ve had more experiences than other people.”
Simply put, Jobs believed that great products are a result of people who thought about what could possibly come next.

Don’t be afraid to use that creative mind of yours and come up with something that just might make you the wealthy person you aspire to be.

5. Focus

You might think that Jobs juggled lots of projects at the same time to reach the height of success. But what you probably don’t know is that he actually credited much of his success to one thing, and that is focus.   
“People think that focus means saying yes to the thing you’ve got to focus on. It means saying no to the other hundred ideas that are there. You have to pick carefully.”
Jobs also said that innovation is saying no to one thousand things. Without focus, your ability to think, solve problems and make decisions will be affected.  

You just can’t optimise your efficiency if your mind is wandering off and multitasking. Your focus should be on one thing, one business problem, one big task, one important conversation.

According to Apple's history, they suffered for many years due to poor engineering management. There were people going off in eighteen different directions-arguably doing amazing things in each of them.

They had good engineers but lousy management. Instead of trying to do it all, simply do it right. So choose wisely, because every time you say yes to something you don’t really want, you’re actually saying no to the things you do want.

6. Never limit yourself

One fact about life that we can’t deny is that we can never escape the challenges that are headed our way. Most of us don’t want to take the next step because of the fear of failure.  

But it’s the limiting of one’s self that holds us back from achieving great success. Jobs once said that he was always attracted to the more revolutionary changes, and he couldn’t understand why. Probably because they were more challenging and much more emotionally stressful.  

He continued and said that
"you usually go  through a period where everyone around you tells you that you’ve failed completely. And although people might tell you that you don’t have a shot, believe in yourself and the difference you make could be life changing."
Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t let other people’s opinions muffle your inner voice. Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.  

What’s interesting is that these people somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

It should be made known that you’re the captain of your own ship, so don’t let anyone take the wheel. Design and live life for yourself, reason being you won’t get a second chance to do so, so you either do it now or you regret it later on in life.

7. Teamwork

The reason why most organisations are successful is because they work together to achieve a common goal. When teamwork is effective, communication, cooperation and combined efforts make for a better outcome. 

Everyone brings their skills, talents and experiences to the table to accomplish a specific task.

Jobs is famous for his attention to detail and  his commitment to perfection. And although, this more often than not, got him into trouble with his colleagues or gave him a reputation of being difficult to work with.

The result’s obtained from his work in Apple are a testament to the outcome when there is a collective commitment to quality from those on your team at work.

Jobs’ model for business was from The Beatles. They were four guys that kept each other’s negative tendencies in check; they balanced each other out, and as a result, the total was greater than the sum of the parts. 

When working in a team, help to balance each other out, and you’ll achieve even more together. Also, remember that those you surround yourself with are the ones that will shape your future.  

If you surround yourself with smart and innovative people who share your vision, well then, you without a doubt have a bright future ahead of you.
